MINSU meets... MNDGNE 012 (+ exclusive stream of 'Vegan')

EXCLUSIVE STREAM OF VEGAN from "18" BELOW :

We recently spoke to Glasgow's youth collective MNDGNE about the lifestyle of a collective, collaboration, work flow and what makes them stand out - A truly exciting project full of talent - Scroll for full interview

Where are you from and when did you start working in the creative industries?

We're based in and around Glasgow and we've been doing stuff for a while but more so than ever. Like individually we've been working on lots of projects for years before forming a collective, cause MndGne is just a collective of solo artists.

What projects are you currently working on?

HunghiXX (HHXX) has his "Heavy Rain" project coming out really soon which is not like what you'd expect, watch out for that. Me (Stxner Kid) and Sly Roli have the "sly babii" EP coming out some time next year like Coloso's "High On Arrival" tape. And yeah of course the MndGne tape 2018. we've been busy.

What is the creative scene like where you are?

Yeah it's quite sick. Like there's some really dope artists around Glasgow, the link ups and work rate means everyone's constantly making and putting out music. It's cool cause we get to perform it at shows that get put on.

What would you say have been your career highlights so far?

We had a show on the 20th of Oct at the Glasgow School of Art, put on by FORIJ where the energy was sick. We got to perform some unreleased tracks as well as some that are online. Glasgow really likes mosh pitting and the energy they give back gives you a rush. Like it's a growing scene that on it's own could be big.

We are all about collaboration - do you think this is an important part of creating and if so then how has it changed the way you work?

Yeah of course, that's how artists and the scene grows. Like if you're dope and in my city why wouldn't I want to work with you and make cool music. It's all cool making music by yourself that you like but when you start linking with other people like you all grow.

Who was/is your main influence?

There's so many, like Kanye, Earl Sweatshirt and A$AP Rocky. And that's just HHXX's influences. We listen to a lot of different music.

3 creators we should be checking out?

(i) In Glasgow definetly E & AK, they just released a track called "Dip" which is wavy.

(ii) There's a collective that run events and exhibitions called FORIJ. They're also based in Glasgow.

(iii) And on the Eastend there's an artist called Ace. He's sick like he's deep and intriguing, definitely worth a listen.
