MINSU MEETS... Sanjana Stein 015

One of my team mates and a true creative soul, Sanjana has worked primarily between music and photography but dabbled in so much more - we share a similar taste and passion for what we do and im so glad to be able to give her a platform to promote her stuff across the pond

- Sanjana Elina formerly known as Anna Eoc - @sanjanaelina - Annaeoc.com Where are you from and when did you start working in the creative industries?

I am from Denver, Colorado USA. I started working in the creative industries when I was 17. What projects are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on a few things. First thing is my blog called Seen & Heard which is a DIY platform for me to write about individuals in Denver who are doing something that I’ve seen and needs to be heard about! I’ve been having a lot of fun with this project as it’s given me a chance to meet people from Instagram and see who they are not through a screen. I love the genuineness of being able to talk to them about what they love to do and capture it through my photography and writing. I’m also currently working on a whole new rebranding for myself. Your name is your best marketing tool I feel myself moving in an entirely different direction, not just with my work but who I am as a person. I’m excited! What is the creative scene like where you are?

The creative scene in Denver is growing. Always is. There are so many talented people who live here. I’m a firm believer on creating your own environment and the scene you want to be apart of. So for me I try to work with whomever I can, whenever I can if the vibe feels right. What would you say have been your career highlights so far?

Oh man! I think the best thing that has happened was seeing my work on a billboard in Thailand. I remember that being sent over and I was shook. We are all about collaboration - do you think this is an important part of creating and if so then how has it changed the way you work?

Heck yea I do! I always love to collaborate. Not just with people but also my surroundings. Collaborating is the number one way to grow. Not just as an artist but as a person. I’ve recently done a few collaborative projects with my close girlfriends: Maya (@mayaisamesss), Kenna (@k.ennaskye) and Samantha (@samanthaerivera) . Each one of us brings something completely different to the table and that’s why I love working with them. When we get together and work everything just flows and we come out with some super insane things that we sometimes didn’t even think we were capable of doing. This alone has given us the space to support each other in the creative industries as each one of us wants to continue to do things beyond just all of us. We have to start somewhere though and I’m so thankful for them and their passion to do work. Below is a recent shoot that I did collaborating with Kenna And Maya.

MUA: Maya Coleman (@mayaisamesss) Model: Kenna Matthews (k.ennaskye) Styling: Maya, Kenna, Sanjana Who was/is your main influence?

My main influence has always been Paper Magazine. They utilize they’re surroundings and go outside the box with their photography bringing in wild colors and outfits. that’s exactly what I’m pushing myself to do. 3 creators we should be checking out? This Used to Be Us: this is a platform created by a good friend of mine Dana Kim who is also a brilliant film photographer based in New York. TUTBU showcases different artists around the world but the aesthetic is so spot on and I love how it leads me to find other creatives who fit the style of photography I’m into. INSTAGRAM- @thisusedtobeus , @softgradient Sam Keller: Sam is a local photographer out of Boulder who primarily shoots film. Her ability to capture and read color is beyond amazing. We also finally got a chance to meet in real life thanks to my blog and have since collaborated on a shoot. INSTAGRAM- @sammykeller , jvmpthegun.com Avery Ashmore: Avery is a stylist based out of Denver. She’s someone I find myself working with fairly often. This girl is so good at what she does, she always finds that Yves Saint Laurent at the local thrift. Once you follow her you will see why I’m so head over heels with her.
