Where are you from and when did you start working in the creative industries?
I am from Gwernyfed in Mid Wales, and I have been a creative as long as I can remember and sold my first ever piece when I was 11 designing a shirt for a company named super loot.
What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently at university studying graphic design but alongside this I currently putting together a collective of like minded creatives as well creating a fashion line called BAD [born a definition]
What is the creative scene like where you are?
Where I'm from basically not existent on your typical sense, living in the middle of no where you don't really get many artists coming out of the area, and the ones who do art are normally O.A.Ps doing water coloured landscapes which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it is hard to find inspiration when most pieces are quite similar. I do get inspired from creativity in the community, there are plenty of local events put on every month all of which is done by and for the community, all decorated by the community, and how everyone gets together at times like these is awesome to see, so yeah not your typical kind of creativity but still pretty dope.
What would you say have been your career highlights so far?
I think big part of anyone's career is when people rep your shit whether that be seeing your logo on their website, people's business cards or seeing people rep clothing in real life, like that idea that formulated in my head now someone is wearing it and don't have clue who I am is so dope.
We are all about collaboration - do you think this is an important part of creating and if so then how has it changed the way you work?
Oh yeah collaboration is essential, I can't stress this more! It has helped me grow so much as an artist, just seeing how other people react to briefs and ideas and just seeing another point of view can expand your work and ideas greatly, I don't think I would've been able to have done some of my greatest work if it wasn't for collab, you can get so stuck in your own ideas and get blinded by stuff, but yeah work with people you pricks (this is coming from a very independent person)
Who was/is your main influence?
This is a hard one because I feel we are influenced by so much especially with being apart of the "internet generation" where you take in thousands of pieces of information a day, but I'd say my biggest influence has got to be Tyler, The Creator - he showed me to never sell myself short and just to try expand myself, instead me just limiting myself to graphic design I am doing illustration, fine art, painting, fashion, filming, photography, production, poetry, animation and many more things and honestly it has helped me grow so much as an artist and as well as a person. Also his work is just dope as fuck - flower boy is probably my favourite album of the year and you know your boy has copped some of the new GOLF drop
3 creators we should be checking out?
One of my favourite artists out there right now is the illustrator Harry McKenzie, from hereford, England, he takes very adult problem and turns them into this childish style, yet it some how works wonders. He is my tattoo artist, big shout out to The Wizards of Rad.
Another hella illustrator is pissbrain from Malvern, England, honestly one of the most consistent artists I have ever seen creating great pieces of work everyday weather it be his films or his illustration, I personally have had the honour to collab this guy and honestly is a creative genius defo check him out, pretty sure he is only 19 or something crazy dude.
And finally um this is a hard one but it's got to be earl chai/mindori he is a rapper, producer, illustrator and a fine artist who is going to be changing the game in the next few years, if he doesn't blow up idk who will, he's got this fabulous simplistic abstract style, all of which tell a story, honestly can't wait to see what he creates in the coming years.
Further comments … Just want to shout out Louis for this opportunity and great shit he is doing for the community and culture!
